In 1967 the Court decided Keyishian v. Board of Regents[56] and declared that academic freedom is a "special concern of the First Amendment.[57] Keyishian involved the Feinberg Law upheld in Adler, which required state university faculty members to sign an affidavit stating that they were not communists.[58] The Court held that the law was unconstitutionally vague.[59] Announcing its commitment t
