  • R.J.: All right with the words and phrases and the syntax, but books displaying widely different spellings for the same word, sometimes on the same page (perfectly usual then in spite of the grammarians's efforts) are a poor guide to pronunciation. (By the way: I do not care for dialects myself, but I do not think they are more disorderly than the standard forms of language.
