  • These criteria are often not satisfied, for example if a TE is only present twice in a genome or is always found embedded in other repetitive sequence, and in such a case PILER-DF will fail to identify that TE. We applied the PILER-DF program to the D, melanogaster, A. gambiae, and eleven recently sequenced Drosophila genomes (Table 1) and identified a number of species-specific TE predictions.
