  • In a nutshell - from what I remember - the aircraft as mentioned was an MD-80 that was flying from DTW to SNA. Apparantly, the aircraft was delayed and was trying to get off the ground to beat the curfew into SNA. I think that the official ruling was pilot error as the flaps were not set correctly (if not the flaps, then something was not set correctly) and the aircraft wasn't able to get the lift
