  • The assumption underlying the assumption seems to me to be that the author is a poor, pathetic delusional fool for writing about a character he wishes he were rather than going out and somehow becoming that character or whatever . . . which strikes me as a bit silly, sort of psychoanalyzing the author rather than analyzing the book.
