  • In this age of internet recipes, I can often spot an American cake recipe (even if it is in units of mass) simply by the high proportion of sugar. (American carrot cake recipes puzzlingly seem to contain even more sugar) This is not such a big deal now (in terms of price), but I know it was for my mother, and especially for her mother.
