  • There is no 'active' safety systems that could theoretically fail - no control rods that might get stuck and fail to drop, or other systems that might fail.I do not think anyone is currently planning on using that design in the near-term, but I hear that GE and Hitachi are in some sort of partnership to try to get approval for, and commercialize, small-scale reactors based on the IFR designs.
