  • I do not know if Watson was a slave or not, or if he was free in 1850, or even if Philo was his son, but I think he may have been a slave or descended from a slave from the slave holders named Ellison in Fairfield SC...Watson's father was said to be Robert Ellison, born in Laurens County SC...In 1870 he was listed in Walker County GA at age 62, and Philo would have been about 27, and was NOT listed
