The width of the securement means may be rather narrow such as is shown in FIG. 4 or, as shown in FIG. 5, it may be wider, in the range of about 1/2 inch to about 11/2 inches, to provide more friction about the head of the wearer to reduce slippage and distribute the tensional forces over a wider portion of the head thereby reducing discomfort during prolonged surgical or other procedures.
