In the past 4 decades, median life expectancy for patients with severe WAS has been extended from less than 5 years to 10 to 20 years with a significant proportion living into the third and fourth decades of life, largely due to the common use of intravenous ??-globulin (IVIG) and broad-spectrum antibiotics.
