  • Bile acids are detergent-like molecules that can form micelles (molecular aggregates) in aqueous solutions if they are above a critical concentration of 2mM. As a result, they are able to solubilize hydrophobic molecules, such as cholesterol, or emulsify digested fats in the intestine.
