  • Before long, the german settlements were mainly speaking English, but with a german accent ??? same with Poles, Greeks, Italians, whatever. (This might also be the origin of all those wonderful little ephitets like kraut, pollack, wop, etc. which are, as far as I know, not used in Europe).
