  • SOA on the other hand is an architectural style, so it makes sense to compare REST with SOA. I have had lengthy email discussions with Roy Fielding and Anne Thomas Manes (of course with Sanjiva too) about the subject and they both are of the view that SOAP (or WS-*) vs REST is not the right comparison, rather REST vs SOA is the more meaningful comparison.
