  • Having had many boats, the usual sacrificial anode, used on rudders, propeller shafts, and inside raw-water cooling systems, is ZINC. You clamp the zinc thingys on to the part you do not want to corrode and the zinc sacrifices itself since it will dissolve in salt or other brackish water before your other precious - and other expensive - metals will be eaten away.
