I think you capture some of the essence of connectivism (and, I will add, the rhizome) when you write that thinking about learning in connectivism terms is not about changing what I do or how I teach, but changing what I believe is happening and how it is happening. ??? what is happening to the student is a culmination of all their connections, both prior and existing, however weak or strong those
