  • When IgE binds an allergen on a dendritic cell for the first time, it triggers T cells to release signaling compounds, called interleukins, which prod B cells to make allergen-specific IgE. When allergens bind to that new IgE, which is sitting on mast cells, inflammatory substances get released, causing runny noses and other symptoms.
